Terracast to launch own products

In collaboration with its inventors, Terracast has designed, engineered and will soon launch a series of its’ own products.
Beginning with a power tool for use in the automotive bodyshop industry we will begin deliveries of this powerful time saving device by the end of June 2017.

Hoyos is the new brand name and our first product will be called the Sirocco. For use as a spot dryer of water based paints the Sirocco will dry painted surfaces up to 80 times faster than in the environmental surroundings. The device uses electricity and compressed air combined with a powerful physical phenomenon to rapidly heat and dry air which is used to evaporate the water content of any modern automotive paint.

Owning and using a Sirocco will save bodyshop operators not only money from the reduced time it takes to dry paint but also the expense of using a paint cabin for small jobs.

Subcon 2016

With an all new stand Piers, Bart and Adrian provided advice on both the latest manufacturing techniques and economic factors to the many visitors that visited the Terracast stand. 2016 was undoubtedly the busiest year that we’ve experienced at the Subcon despite what looked like lower visitor numbers overall. The enquiries that we did receive were potentially very interesting and we will invest more time now in continuing to help customers develop ideas into manufactured products.

We are delighted to welcome Adrian Pugh to the team

Adrian is joining as UK sales manager and brings a wealth of experience and engineering skills to support our UK customers. Originally from the West Midlands Adrian knows his UK manufacturing well and we’re sure that he will be an important asset to us in our ongoing effort to stay relevant in a competitive environment.

It's Subcon time again (June 6th-8th at the NEC. Stand H28)

This year we have an all new stand which will be highlighting not only our traditional range of manufacturing processes but also our entry into the tooling and precision machining business. With the purchase of TSD in The Netherlands 2 years ago we have acquired an enormously competent team of resourceful and innovative engineers who are helping transform the range of techniques that as a business we can offer.
We will be exhibiting a complete stamping tool from the semi-conductor industry together with other precision parts made by milling, turning, wire-cutting and grinding processes.
We look forward to seeing you there.

TSD buys the latest & most accurate 5 axis machining centre from Taiwanese maker Litz

Making major new investments to keep TSD at the forefront of technological competence. TSD have acquired a brand new LitZ LU-400 5 axis milling machine to add to its existing machine park.

As well, the existing Litz LU-620 5 axis machine now gains a robotic loader from Erowa which will allow 24/7 loading / unloading of palletised work pieces.
Almost all TSD's machines can now benefit from the new Erowa Zero Point pallets that TSD will begin utilising from the beginning of 2016.
These and other investments which TSD will shortly announce will revolutionise not only the efficiency of the milling department but technologically will significantly improve accuracy and reduce the time required to produce any given product.

Terracast’s sister company invests in new machinery.

TSD in the Netherlands has added a 5th EDM wire cutting machine to boost capacity at their busy plant.“We simply must guarantee our customers accurate delivery times and with business opportunities so strong from abroad at the moment it’s time that we put in place more capacity for the future” said Frans Derksen who is TSD’s managing director.“The Sodick SLC600G is a fantastic machine and should begin producing parts at an even greater accuracy than we have previously been able to achieve with existing machinery” he added.

With testing competed TSD now has another 100 hours a week of EDM capacity to service the ever increasing demand for high accuracy machine parts that are the core products of what TSD produces.

PRESS RELEASE (engineering industry titles)

EMBARGO 12 noon, Monday August 18, 2014

Dutch high precision machining specialist TSD and UK-based engineering component supply operation Terracast have united under the Mecanis Holding banner, establishing an engineering supply group with an international customer and supplier base.

Mecanis Holding owners Erik van Ouwerkerk and Piers McGillycuddy confirmed: “From the outset we have been determined to provide Terracast with access to in-house precision engineering facilities and other specialist services; our ability to continuously improve service provision and quality depends upon it.  The challenge was to identify a precision engineering operation capable of delivering the flexibility and quality that our customers need.

“TSD is undoubtedly the right choice because of the strength in its order book, the quality of its supplier base and its proven engineering competence – it has a long-standing team of highly committed, talented and experienced engineers at its heart.

McGillycuddy and van Ouwerkerk established Terracast in 2004 to develop, produce and supply specialist-engineering components to manufacturers in the UK and Europe. With more than 10 years of experience in automotive, fuel handling, waste and medical industries, the company is continuing to offer highly competitive pricing to customers.

TSD, based near Arnhem on the Dutch/German border has specialised in tooling and high precision machining for the past 16 years. Their staffs of specialist engineers excel in tooling design, metrology and heat treatments. TSD managing director Frans Derksen will continue at the helm: “Becoming part of an international engineering group brings with it the investment necessary to keep pace with a changing market, and the skills, contacts and services in-house to improve our operational and customer service provision in the longer term.”

TSD and Terracast will operate as autonomous business units. Staff have been reassured that attention is focus on growth rather than consolidation, with existing business identities, facilities, employees and management all very much part of the group’s future plans.

Ends                                                                                                             15 August 2014

It seems that engineering keeps on bucking the trend,
or so our recent experience at Subcon 2012 would suggest.

This pre-eminent trade show at the UK NEC for all suppliers of finished and semi-finished engineering components was larger than ever. Though the aisles weren't mobbed we were very pleasantly surprised at both the quantity and the quality of attendants who visited our colourful stand. It's a big investment to exhibit at these fairs, with months of planning beforehand and personnel away for the duration of the show so the results are keenly anticipated.

Hall 3 of the NEC has been recently updated and so visitors and exhibitors alike were treated to a great venue with many items of infrastructure which are so desperately absent from some of the other halls. The stands themselves were very varied but with one or two exceptions were all of a very high standard. Some of the engineering on display was awesome. I'm talking about some of the parts which have been commissioned where price is clearly not the primary concern, basically the defense and aerospace sectors which had incredibly complex bits of metal and composites machined down to micron level tolerances. A joy to behold!

At Terracast we were displaying our simple no nonsense expertise. If you were looking on the day for low cost production for your basic engineering parts I don't think that you would have found a more expert or effective company to speak with. Our main talking point for the show was to highlight our free stocking and finance service and we were delighted to discover that not only was Terracast the only firm of its type to offer this but also that so many companies were interested in it.

We went away from the show on Thursday afternoon with dozens of new potential customers to speak with and hope yet to convert these contacts to happy, stress free long term engineering customers. We look forward to seeing you all again for Subcon 2013.
